He Korowai Kaumātua
He Korowai Kaumātua was launched in response to the rāhui of 2020.
Our kaumātau are one of our precious, yet most vulnerable groups of our communities and can often feel isolated. This partially funded service is about keeping our kaumātua connected and supported to engage in activities that are meaningful to them.
DURING COVID-19 Lockdown levels 3 and 4
Our Tūhuno Hapori regularly check in on our kaumātua, either via telephone or virtually to ensure they are able to remain active members of the community. They’re assigned a tūhono who will listen to their needs and/or concerns and connect them with appropriate services if need be.
From organising mobile services to visit the whānau, a lesson on Zoom so that they can stay connected to the community, or something as simple as a cuppa tea, our tūhono are there to keep our kaumātua connected.
